Don’t Sweat. Don’t Laugh. Don’t draw attention to yourself. And most of all, whatever you do, do not fall in love with one of them.
Gene is different from everyone else around him. He can’t run with lightning speed, sunlight doesn’t hurt him and he doesn’t have an unquenchable lust for blood. Gene is a human, and he knows the rules. Keep the truth a secret. It’s the only way to stay alive in a world of night—a world where humans are considered a delicacy and hunted for their blood.
When he’s chosen for a once in a lifetime opportunity to hunt the last remaining humans, Gene’s carefully constructed life begins to crumble around him. He’s thrust into the path of a girl who makes him feel things he never thought possible—and into a ruthless pack of hunters whose suspicions about his true nature are growing. Now that Gene has finally found something worth fighting for, his need to survive is stronger than ever—but is it worth the cost of his humanity?
The Hunt by Andrew Fukuda released May 8, 2012 by St. Martin's Griffin. You can buy a copy from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or IndieBound.
A review from Nicole:
While this may not be for everyone, I found the story and its premise pretty unique (a little like the Hunger Games, but not quite!). I didn't like the ending at all, but loved the nonstop action and the fact that the author managed to take an overdone subject and turn it into something refreshing.
The Perfect 10 Thoughts:
Monica: Pg 50- Wait ..is he a vampire or not?
Pg 100- Non-vampire. Got it. DON’T DRAW ATTENTION TO YOURSELF! *shakes head*
Pg 150- Okay the whole scratching wrists thing is really creeping me out but YAY! A party! I hope the Director dies.
Pg 200- That’s his name!! Dude, they are HUMANS. Just like you. They are NOT hepers ..they are homosapians.
Pg 250- WHOA! Andrew Fukuda has throw in a twist! Oh my--I did not see that coming. Kuddos to Andrew! This really changes some things, doesn’t it?
Pg 300- RUN YOU FOOL! They’re goners.
Pg 350- Epic hero action but no!! What about Ashley!? I’m Team Sissy and all but nooooooo! She was ..awesome and nice and sweet and smart! GO BACK!!!
